Natural Gas Prices Decline Across Major Markets

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), natural gas spot prices fell at all major locations during the week of March 5 to March 12.

Total U.S. natural gas consumption dropped by 4.9%, with declines across residential, commercial, industrial, and power generation sectors. LNG exports also decreased slightly.

In the Northeast, warmer temperatures led to a corresponding price drop. Natural gas consumption in the region dropped in Boston and New York.

Western markets followed the national downward trend despite an overall increase in consumption. However, the West saw a 7% increase in total consumption, driven largely by higher demand in residential and commercial sectors.
